The Classic Two-Player Game

Who will rule the South Seas? Two Kahuna ? ancient sorcerers of the Pacific ? compete for dominance on an archipelago consisting of twelve small islands. Using their magic and wisdom, they struggle for control of the islands. They anxiously await the cards handed to them by fate. But when the time is right, they move to capture one, two, or even more islands, trying to gain the upper hand. At the mercy of the magical powers of the South Seas, they quickly realize that even the best magic is no good without strategy.

The Game Board

The game board depicts 12 islands of the South Seas, interconnected by dotted lines on which players build bridges with the goal of taking control of as many islands as possible. To stake your claim, you must place bridges on the majority of an island’s connecting lines, which in turn allows you to remove any bridges your opponent may have placed to or from that island.

The Game Components

Each player receives 25 Kahuna bridges to complete their goal of dominance in the island kingdom! When a player has gained control of an island, they place a Kahuna token on that island as a sign of power. The Island cards enable the players to build bridges–by playing a “Bari” card, for example, you can build a bridge from Bari to one of its adjacent islands.

Scoring

Three scoring rounds are played. When scoring takes place, you receive points if you have claimed more islands with Kahuna tokens than your opponent. And if you have more points than your opponent at the end of three rounds, you gain control of the whole island kingdom and win the game!
